Winter Harvest at Shore Side Farm House

Not much on the home renovation front, so I am making a small contribution today. I am sharing my amazement. In December of last year, we had a frozen river as of December 15. We had taken the boat out of the water on the 12th, and a few days later the river was frozen solid. Its a good thing the motivation to pull the boat had finally hit a couple of days before!

To give you an idea of the changes wrought with each year, on the 16th of this year, I went out to collect greens and holly berries to make a holiday arrangement for house decoration.  I went out for some holly fronds, berried, and cedar branches, but the is not what I
picked.....I picked tomatoes...yes tomatoes. Not a huge harvest, but a surprising harvest. I photographed it to note the event. That's the photos shown here. Not much of an impressive story, but a notable event here at the Shore Side Farm House. These have been growing there since the summer, the summer we didn't have any tomatoes, in spite of out gardening efforts. With gardening you just never know what you are going to get. Its always a surprise and generally a pleasure. So be it with these, you take it when you can get it. Fresh tomatoes in December, they should be interesting eating!
