Re-amping my sewing exploits has brought me to recreating moments of my youth. This past week I found myself designing and sewing a cover for my kindle. I approached it much like the little purses, zippered bags and headbands I sewed for myself in my childhood. My darling oldest daughter gifted me a kindle for Christmas. It was not a gift I intended to purchase for myself. She knew what was best and I have come to discover that I love the little gadget. Amazon, the manufacturer, warns that water will seriously damage the kindle, so it became a priority to sew a cover to protect the little computer.
I made a trip to Hancock fabrics, looking for some fabric to make a slipcover for my car seat...and some fabric to cover the Kindle. I came home with an knit animal print and a black fleece. My two little pieces have worked well for both the kindle cover and the car seat. Both projects have brought me a spritz of joy, by solving a small concern. Sometimes the little things are rewarding, and these little sewing projects have built my confidence and sparked my interest in my sewing. I will include some photos of the kindle cover. I will not explain the process until my next posting.
