Today was another "found wildlife" happening that was facilitated by a visiting dog. Layla the dogged dog who loves to chase down any living creature fell onto a scent that fascinated her. I ignored her but her state of being escalated from casual to possessed in short order. She was nosing around the shed when she started obsessing over something under the shed. I went to see what was up and she had unearthed a box turtle! The poor thing was in a boxed condition. In fear of Layla it boxed its shell up to protect itself. I have found a box turtle several times before on the property, but this was a differnt box turtle. This one has different shell patterns and the previous one I have met several times before had a large discolored damage on top of his shell. So this was a "new" box turtle, one we have not seen before. I love little surprises like this. It always brings me back to the wonder of nature and put a touch of awe into my day. I just love it!

More visitors...dogs....family.....etc
I just love this place. The house is a challenge but the location above the river is magic. We are out on the edge of civilization 25 miles to the store or anything else. Way out! Bad for services....great for natural surprises. We had some company this afternoon, they brought two dogs. The dogs loved the water, the humans did too. We played in the water, sat in chairs and on the neighbors dock and we soaked the whole place in. It is great. One of the perks of living here is the unexpected events that show up quite frequently. These can be an unexpected sea vessel, lost people or animals, found wildlife.
