Fortitude and faith

Mr has been working on this damn corner of the porch for over a week. What a royal pain. I don't know how he does it. I am over it, though I do appreciate his perseverence. I do have some more photos of the progress, though the progress is at a snails pace. One man can only do so much ...and then there is so much, way too much to do. Anyway, here is the latest newsreel.

This is the stake the he apparently had too much faith in. It held the porch up against the house for a few days. It looks it, doesn't it? This used to be straight, never again to return to its former glory. Junk now.

The culprit in the whole scenario is the aging porch post. Pretty but decrepit. It is actually looking pretty spiffy here. By now it has had a major make over. New shoes to stand tall and a new dress...a coat of paint.

It has been cut off, matched, laminated back together, contoured to match, and is soon to be back holding up the world of the waterside porch.
An important job to be sure.

After the first one had this tedious make over like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, its co-worker the  half column up agains the house needed the same treatment. It still  has not had a new dress yet so the work is obvious when looking at the next couple of pictures.

What a mess. I don't know how he does it. I am ready for the first plane out of here.
