Ultra-light airplane

Living on the water is such a different life experience.  This photo is our back yard. We lived in our last home for 35 years. Same old same old was the general rule. I can't think of too many diversions or entertainments that came and plopped itself out on our green front lawn. Surprise events  happen all the time here at Shore Side Farm House.  From somebody showing up in a boat on the ice covered river in January and then getting trapped in the ice, to two beautiful stray peacocks eating at the bird feeders, visiting wild turtles in the yard or Coast Guard helicopters with flood lights searching for a missing boater who was ultimately found drowned after a mishap, you just never know what excitement is going to occur unexpectedly at our doorstop. That adds an element of chance and adventure here.

We had a bit of excitement here a day or two ago. It looked like Santa's sled was arriving seven months too early.  While enjoying dinner on the porch we heard a strange engine noise. We thought it might be a troublesome jet skier that has been abusing the privilege of navigation in the area, but it wasn't that.  The diversion arrived by air. Around the point, heard long before it was seen, was an ultra-light plane. It was an amazing little vessel.  It looked as sturdy as a mayfly. It grabbed our attention, and then its behavior became even more alluring. The pilot proceeded to practice take offs and landings. It was an ultralight that has pontoons as its base, so it touched down to the water, then back up into the air, and then  back to the river...repeating this procedure several times. We found it very fascinating and amazing. It looked like a hang glider kite with pontoons. Somebody brought their hobby to us, and we enjoyed it! Here are some photos of the ultra-light. As I said, you just never know what is going to develop here at Shore Side Farm House.
