Our kitchen looks beautiful. My colors are really showing beautiful with the increased in light. I chose a pale orange (we afffectionally call it Creamsicle) for the walls, and a periwinkle blue for the ceiling.. It is an unconventional color scheme, but lovely. The increase in light brought fullness and clarity to my colors. I love it. It feels good to be in the room. I chose those colors as a reflection of the colors that occur here at sundown and twilight. The color scheme works even better than I thought it would. It makes the room warm and inviting, just as I planned. As the light changes in the afternoon, the space blends into the landscape and envelopes you into nature. That is just what I was going for. I wanted to make the view the "artwork" in the room. I wanted the walls to recede, and the view and natural colors to take precedence. On those goals, my design has succeeded.
The eating area is pure pleasure. The light is welcoming and bright. It proves to be a great gathering spot for friends and family. I find myself gravitating here to do any projects that come up, and it seems that my guests are pulled to that spot too. Mission accomplished.
We wanted a gathering place for entertaining and eating, this area works very well already to meet those goals. There are still many issues to be solved. The window displaced the electric heating unit in the room, so the kitchen needs heat added. We have an unusual solution for that. The beautiful window has a not so beautiful area from the window to the water's edge...we need to make that beautiful too. As we proceed more dilemas are sure to surface...stay tuned for those postings.
What a beautiful view you have out your kitchen window. I would wash dishes all day :)
