the mess: furniture piled up
to make room to work |
Life has really changed in our house. After the installation of the new big waterview window in the kitchen, I find myself in the kitchen for most of the day. The bay water is only about thirty feet from the window, so you can't help but see the magnificent light, color changes and tide movements. Its a wonder to behold from inside the house, such a pleasure. I am smitten. I find myself, cooking, baking, even painting on an easel, in the kitchen. The kitchen has become the main living space in the house. The brightness of the room just calls to me. It is so different from the other dark drab rooms in this big old farmhouse.

| more mess: stacks of displaced dishes |
Lots has been completed on this window project, and the laundry/pantry closet. The two projects intertwined to the point where they competed for attention. It was pretty painful to have so much disruption in the house. All food, much of the kitchen tools, bowls and plates were scattered in boxes around the house, to clear the kitchen for construction. I had no idea where to find anything. Confusion and frustration ruled for the last three weeks. Fortunately we are on the down side of that mountain. The clean up has been overwhelming and time consuming. I am still in the process of putting this place back together, and rearranging storage to suit the new configurations. Its all good, more storage space, more organized living quarters and nice clean new walls and windows surround us. Piles of dishes are everywhere.

| eating area getting back to order |
The room is not back in order but it is still very enjoyable. The improvement is immense. Photos show the expanse of the space, the furniture moved back into the space, though not returned to its intended placement. There is a lot that still remains to be done; globes on the light, dishes in place on the sideboard, the pantry organized. This is just the beginning. We are getting somewhere, though. Our photos tell the story.....so far. Next posting will have more photos of the progress to completion.
