Old House, Cold Cold Winter, Renovation Old House

Lo and behold, the "this old house" renovations at Shore Side Farm House have ceased for the time being. There are many reasons for the cessation. The primary reason is the weather. It is unseasonably cold and windy. I did not think it could get any more windy than we have seen before, but damn it has. This is one cold location to put a house. Our exposure is to the north and the west, and the winds on the continent just happen to blow in those directions most of the time. We can testify to that!

Mr sure did make things better. He is a hero in my book. It is markedly warmer in here than it used to be, but too cold for these old bones. My body keeps on whispering to me that I am meant for points south, and this is just not south enough. I must be reincarnated Native American because I want to migrate north in the summer and south in the winter. Don't know if it will ever work out that way, but it sure seems that that would be ideal.  There was snow in the air today, lake effect I guess. It was coming right across the water and was hitting the kitchen window dead on, like driving a car in a blizzard. Fortunately there was not accumulation, but it was a frightful and fretful reminder of what is to come in the next few months and I hate it. I dread it, and I have accepted that there really isn't anything I can do about it except read and do some small scale projects, like reading and writing. The writing part could be a problem, since my computer is having difficulties. That could take a while to solve, and it has already impacted my blogging. All my photos are on the wounded beast, so this will be a text only post.  It will all work out, I am sure. When it all blows over I will add some photos in.

So here is to bone chilling wind, mind blowing natural power, and the relentless wind noise that hasn't let up for more than a day in the last month or so. Oh, if only I had a wind generator! I think we could pay for our heat on just the raw power of the wind that rips this place. Scary!
